Truth. Kindness. Integrity.
I have officially announced my candidacy for Sheriff of Musselshell County. I bring nearly a decade of dedicated service, a deep love for my community, and a leadership philosophy grounded in truth, kindness, and integrity. I have served as a deputy since November 2016 and as a Sergeant since November 2019. I have devoted my career to protecting and serving the people of Musselshell County. I have resided in the county for 12 years. My decision to run is rooted in a genuine calling. To me it is not just a job. I care deeply about my community. I’m invested in the people who live here, and I want to give back. I’ve seen the highs and lows, and I want to help everyone thrive. Montanans care for each other. We persevere. That’s the spirit I want to lead with.
Why should you vote for Ethan?
A heart for service.
I have a heart for service, and a natural empathy for every situation, I believe that sets me apart. I’ve hit hard bumps like everyone else. Life can be overwhelming. I understand that. I have the empathy to truly hear people’s problems and handle each situation uniquely. I believe one of the greatest challenges facing communities today is maintaining empathy in the face of overwhelming issues. As Sheriff, I would emphasize compassion alongside accountability—ensuring people feel heard while upholding the law, with fairness and consistency.
Investing in the professionals serving our community.
A key pillar of my campaign is investing in the professionals serving our community. I am committed to ensuring deputies have the following: adequate, modern equipment; ongoing, high-quality training; and strong leadership support. Leadership is not to rule, but to empower the deputies to excel and succeed in their career. I want to grow leaders for the future, to reach even beyond the borders of Musselshell County. I understand both the tactical and human sides of law enforcement. I believe preparedness, professionalism, and continual improvement are essential to public trust and safety. If we invest in our deputies, they can better serve the people. It’s about giving them the tools, training, and support they need to do their jobs well.
Integration of mental health engagement within law enforcement.
I recognize the need for stronger integration of mental health engagement within law enforcement. I plan to work toward better coordination between agencies and mental health services to ensure individuals and families receive appropriate support, whether it be law enforcement or the community we serve. We need better ties between mental health resources and every aspect of what we do. We can improve by building stronger relationships and working together.
Strong moral compass.
I pledge to lead with a strong moral compass—doing what is right, kind, and truthful at all times. My approach aligns closely with the mission of Musselshell County: serving the public with professionalism and integrity, while protecting the safety and well-being of the community. It comes down to people caring for people. I want to unify families and create stronger relationships between agencies, so we can work together effectively. Truth and kindness are not weaknesses—they are strengths.
There have been questions as to why multiple candidates from within the Sheriff’s Office are running. Rather than criticizing fellow candidates, I want to emphasize respect for those who have helped build and sustain the county. Each candidate in the race has something beneficial and unique to offer Musselshell County. My decision to run is to offer my unique perspective for the growth of the community. It offers the voters options. I share the excitement of the campaign with every candidate that embarks on this journey as an opportunity to lead and grow. There is longevity here, and I respect that. I simply want to build on that foundation and continue moving us forward with a positive momentum.
With the Primary Election in June and the General Election in November, I am asking voters for the opportunity to continue serving Musselshell County in a greater leadership role. My campaign isn’t about a title. It’s about service. It’s about caring for people. I want to lead with integrity, support our deputies, and strengthen our community. Together, we can continue building a county where families, agencies, and neighbors stand united.
